Richard (Paul Giamatti) and his wife, author Rachel (Kathryn Hahn), have been trying to make a baby for years. “Private Life” follows the 40-something couple as they ride a roller coaster of hope and humiliation and try to keep their strained marriage from falling apart.
The movie, written and directed by Tamara Jenkins – her first since highly-acclaimed “The Savages” a decade ago – is a comedy that will have you both laughing and cringing at the situations the two find themselves in, ever anxious as repeated failures seem to spell doom for the pair.
The filmmakers were in search of just the right version of Bach’s “French Suite No. 5 in G Major, BWV 816 III. Sarabande” for the score. In stepped Current Music and Jennifer Thomas — the award-winning American pianist, composer, performing and recording artist known for both her classical covers and original compositions – with the perfect rendition.
