Sail4th 250 Celebration (NBC)

Proudly Scoring NBCUniversal’s Live Broadcast of “Sail4th 250” - America’s Semiquincentennial

Current Music created the theme and all of the original music for NBCUniversal’s exclusive six-hour live special, “Sail4th America’s 250,” celebrating 250 years of American independence on July 4, 2026.

The main theme was composed by the artist duo SIKORA (Matthew Sikora and Elizabeth Forde) and produced by Current Music’s Maddie Madsen. In addition to the main theme, themes were created specifically for 8 featured ships in addition to the USA ships: Eastern Europe, France, Germany, Holland, India, Italy, South America, Spain & Portugal. Each ship included authentic instrumentation and traditions from the regions.

The broadcast aired nationwide across NBC, Telemundo, NBC News NOW, and Peacock, as well as local NBC and Telemundo stations, and captured the largest maritime and aerial gathering in U.S. history. Our score framed the live network coverage throughout New York Harbor, accompanying:

• The International Parade of Sail: A grand procession of 48 majestic tall ships from 20 nations sailing past the Statue of Liberty and up the Hudson River.

• The 7th International Naval Review: A historic, time-honored ceremony featuring over 50 U.S. and allied warships positioned along the river.

• The International Aerial Review: A sky-filling flyover of nearly 200 military aircraft, capped off by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Continuing the legacy of landmark televised maritime events—from the 1976 Bicentennial to the 2012 Star-Spangled Banner Bicentennial—it was an extraordinary honor to craft the sonic backdrop for this historic broadcast.
